Lamoreaux Genealogy Event
Amy Joan Lamoreaux spoke at a Lamoreaux Genealogy event in Comstock Park, Michigan, the hometown of her pioneer forebears who helped settle that area prior to the Civil War. The Lamoreaux's of Comstock Park are direct descendants of French Huegonot Andre Lamoreaux, a maritime pilot who was forced to escape from France because of religious persecution. Amy's talk focused on the life of Andre and her personal pilgrimage to visit the towns where he lived. She also described what it was like to be a Protestant living in France in Andre’s time. She told of Andre’s escape from France and his ultimate immigration to the New World, New York City around 1700.
